Two-Day NVR Practitioner Training
The pathway to becoming an NVR practitioner is to complete a two-day training with an NVR Ireland-accredited trainer.

This two-day training will equip practitioners with the evidence-based model of Non-Violent Resistance as an intervention for child-to-parent violence and abuse and conflict/distress within the family.

This training will provide practitioners with skills and strategies needed to work with parents, carers and families experiencing high levels of physical and emotional conflict within the family system.

Practitioners will complete over two days:

  • The development of the non-violent resistance model as a family  intervention and its adaption in Ireland.
  • An outline of the  research and theory about Child to Parent Violence and Abuse and it’s prevalence.
  • An overview of the NVR model as an intervention to equip the practitioner with the skills set to provide parents with practical skills and techniques to restore positive relationships within the family.

Five-Day Advanced Practitioner Training

In 2022, The Non-Violent Resistance in Practice (SP6110) 5 Day Advanced Practitioner Training Course was launched at the University of Galway. The rationale for this University accredited 10 ECT course came from practitioners throughout the island of Ireland who requested accredited and ongoing training and support for Non-Violent Resistance in practice. It also stemmed from the dedication and encouragement NVR Ireland National Committee members most of which are involved in facilitating sessions throughout this online course.  It was co-funded by the Irish Association of Social Workers and Social Care Ireland. If a practitioner has completed teh Two day training and has used NVR in their practice, then they are eligible to attend the Advanced Training. Please complete the Membership form, if not completed already, so you can be notified of future trainings.
